I have loved skincare, from a young age. I remember digging up dirt in my backyard for a mud mask and blending carrots with milk to help my dark spots. Now that I’m older and live in the city I don’t dig in the dirt as much, and I have found that using store-bought items can be just as good and in most cases better than the others.
When I switched to green, cruelty-free, and ecofriendly skincare brands, it is sometimes hard to find and especially know what was good. I’ve since learned what products to use and found brands that I enjoy and will always buy because the brand overall agrees with my values. Today I will show you what I have learned as well as recommend some ecofriendly skincare brands and products for you to try.
What I Look For In Ecofriendly Skincare Brands?
To make sure we’re on the same page I wanted to share some things that I care about to make sure you know what I look for.
No animal testing – this is something that I can’t stress enough I don’t believe that animals should suffer so I can look good. It’s just cruel and to me personally is not necessary there are so many alternative ways1 to make sure that products are safe for human use. So instead of just yelling and screaming, I put my money where my mouth is and just don’t buy the brand.
Vegan, Vegetarian, natural products – I prefer vegan brands I love veggies and use them for everything but as long as the products are natural and again don’t cause any harm to animals I’m down for it. For example, if there’s milk or egg in the product it’s fine but if there’s none at all it’s perfect.
Responsibly Sourced – I personally don’t believe that there’s no way to not cause harm to the environment, I mean even if you walk in the grass too much it’ll stop growing there. Since that’s a fact when a brand must source a product I would prefer it to be done as responsibly as possible meaning that when a brand needs to source a product they do it ethically and as sustainably as possible.

I’m a strong believer that we shouldn’t have to harm the planet or hurt animals to have nice skin. I hope you understand (and agree). Now that we have that out of the way and hopefully are all on the same page when it comes to skincare, it’s time for the fun part! Let’s talk about the best ecofriendly skincare brands and products!
My Favorite Ecofriendly Skincare Brands
I’ve covered a few of the brands before on here but I wanted to make it a bit easier to find. This is a living list so make sure to check back to see if I added more to the list! I also added a few of my favorite and wishlist products below each brand so you know where to start if you’re looking to try something new. These are affiliate links and it does help me keep this site up and running, you can also find more ways to help on the support page but let’s get into the products!
Youth To The People
It’s no secret that I love Youth To The People, they are a completely vegan brand and all their packaging is made of glass so either reusable or recyclable. You can buy their refillable products. I know the cleanser doesn’t come with the pump and is slightly cheaper, but not by much, it is still a nice option.
I did a full review of the YTTP a few months ago if you’re interested read it here I was interested in trying their brand because I wanted a new skincare routine that was good and green and after trying their products, especially their superfood cleanser I was completely sold on it. The way it transformed my skin into a smooth and glowy complexion. My hormonal acne isn’t nearly as bad and my skin hasn’t turned into an oil slick in a while. The amount is well worth the price. I love this cleanser and will not change it. The same goes for the kombucha toner and the mask.
Mad Hippie
I would be lying if I said I didn’t buy this because it had Hippie in the name, but I did. It also is a really good brand though. They are all about helping and saving the environment with 1 dollar of every web sale going to conservation they have a partnership with Terracycle you can read bout that and their conversation efforts here. That’s why they are one of my favorite ecofriendly skincare brands!
When it comes to their skincare it’s amazing and all-natural and with minimal impact on the planet. All their products are Leaping Bunny and PETA certified Vegan and cruelty-free. I love the message behind this brand and how it started off so small. I’ve used their Vitamin C serum and I did like it although I’ve had better but when I tried their skin brightening kit, I think that’s what sold me because I looked fresher overall and got so many compliments on my skin.
Pacifica Skincare
This was one of the ecofriendly skincare brands that I was surprised to learn about! Not only is it vegan and cruelty-free, and the brand is wallet-friendly too! It’s also widely available at many stores so no specialty store is needed. I know a lot of the higher-end products that I couldn’t get regularly I switched out for this brand. I love their vegan collagen night cream adding this to my skincare was heaven-sent. I use their moisturizer now and it’s great but that cream was a dream.
They are PETA certified and have been from the start they are also very transparent (as far as I can tell) by admitting their faults, like when it comes to their sunscreen they admit it’s not perfect (like having a white cast to it ) and that the ever-changing science around reef safe sunscreen prevents it from putting it on their packaging you can read it here. I love that in a company.
