Living in the present and creating a more mindful lifestyle can improve your life immensely! You’ll feel yourself become calmer and think clearer than ever before. Today I will show you some of the daily mindfulness exercises to help me maintain my mindful life and I hope these practices will create more mindful habits for you too.
Meditation. We’ve been through this all before, just as a refresher. Meditation is the practice of focusing your attention on a particular object, thought, or activity. This trains your mind to be more aware and calm. Practicing daily meditation causes you to be mindful and aware of your mind, body, and environment. Taking a few moments daily to sit with yourself and take inventory of yourself and slow everything down will help you focus on what’s important and see the big picture.

Mindful Immersion – Fully immersing yourself in an activity instead of multitasking helps your mind be more intuned with your body. When you’re working on multiple things at once then your mind is not fully involved with any one thing, it’s pretty obvious when you break it down like that. To be mindful your mind must be fully involved it’s in the name! I know we glamourize multitasking and it is a great skill to have but it’s important to slow down and fully immerse yourself in to a project or task instead of doing multiple things at once. You’ll notice not only do you retain information better but your work will also improve.
Appreciation: Practice gratitude. Be thankful for what you have and all that you will achieve. There’s been a misconception going on in the world that has this idea that appreciation is acceptance. It’s not, you can appreciate a gift and still refuse it. Appreciation is simply being grateful for what you have and what you have been given. You don’t have to accept it. For example, when I was in a tiny apartment that leaked I was grateful that I had a roof over my head, I wasn’t thrilled about the condition it was in but it was a shelter nonetheless. I still worked toward getting better accommodations. Be grateful, not compliant.
I hope these daily mindfulness exercises help you in your mindfulness journey the accommodating links are articles that give examples of each of the steps mentioned. I wish you well and will see you at the next one.
