This year I want to read more books. I feel like it’s been a while since I read a book and they’re the best way to expand your mind and gain a new perspective on things. My goal is to read at least 1 to 2 books a month, so two books a month is not too shabby or strenuous. So here are the two I read this month!
My first book is Holistic Home: Feng Shui for Mind, Body, Spirit, and Home by Laura Benko. This is a great book if you want to create a calmer and more peaceful environment in your home and within yourself. I chose this book because I wanted to get a deeper meaning and create a sanctuary in my home since it’s somewhere I spend a lot of time and within myself from a different perspective. I like to believe I’ve created a safe space in my home and I’m a peaceful person in general, however, it’s always great to get a new perspective and learn new things.
Second and admittedly the one that I’m more into is The Art of Happiness with the Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler, M.D. I’m listening to this by Audiobook. I love how nonchalant Dalai Lama comes off. He seems like a genuine person who is very humble, the message is simple to treat others well, don’t sweat the small stuff, and respect others. I’m on chapter 10 so it’s not that long and somehow I feel more at peace when I read it. He has a very interesting view of loneliness and your relationship in the world and others that makes you put everything in perspective. I like to listen to stuff like this at the beginning of the day to set the mood and keep me positive.
That’s it those are the two books that I’m reading for the month. My goal is to at least read two a month most likely I will go more in the audiobooks. It’s interesting to hear the authors read their books, you hear way more feeling in the words and get the context better.
