I’ve never been much of a cook. I never care for grocery shopping because most of the food goes to waste because I cook for one and rarely can you buy just enough lettuce for one salad. Based on that I decided to try hello fresh. Here’s how it went.
What is Hello Fresh?
Hello Fresh is a meal delivery service that comes with pre-portion meals for you to make that usually take under 30 minutes. They have a variety of options for you to choose from whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, a full carnivore, or pescatarian. I love this option because if you’re single and live solo, like me, you know what a chore grocery shopping can be. Most things at the store are sold in bulk. Enter hello fresh that *should* eliminate my food waste problem.

The Review
When I searched for recipes for my box there wasn’t an option for one person serving. I didn’t mind because I thought I could break up the meal into two servings. I had a coupon code to use it brought my bill from $75 to around $40. Seeing how my grocery bill is around 70 or 80 it seemed reasonable depending on long this lasts me.
My box came pretty quickly about 3 to 4 days after I placed the order. The meals are simple to recreate and didn’t take long. There was more prep work than expected I thought this was more of a reheat situation, it’s not. However, none of the meals I selected took more than 30 minutes. My favorite meal was the flatbread pizza. The roasted tomatoes were delicious I will be recreating this regularly!
However, the next week wasn’t as well. There wasn’t a ton of options and nothing really caught my eye. The recipes got a little longer and didn’t have the number of greens or variety that I would like. This would be a good option if you really just needed some food options and weren’t on a strict diet. The recipes are amazing, but if you don’t eat meat then it could be difficult to find something.
The meals lasted me about two days each so maybe a week. They do give you discounts like 30 dollars off so you will end up saving some money. I did still need to have some extra foods for other meals, so keep that in mind.
All in all its, not a bad program. If you like to try new recipes, get healthier options, and aren’t on a strict diet then go for it! Not so much when you’re on a strict diet. If you’re still interested in trying Hello Fresh you can get the same discount that I used by clicking here and try it out let me know what you think.
